The game is  better now with synthetic grass golf greens and new synthetic bowling green

Picturefirst tests November 2015
Synthetics -The Game is On!

Walpole Country Club has 18 synthetic golf greens on the picture perfect golf course.
The opening was a roaring success and three of the states best professional golfers came down to join us and all 3 declared the synthetic greens a great success.

Since installation of the greens visiting players have increased significantly and locals have been able to enjoy their competitions even more.
The  2016 Pioneer cup (see golf) was the first major event to use the greens and even though very new and requiring further work on the surrounds the 226 golfers were very complementary.
New competitions have been developed and include summer Friday afternoon/evening social games. Many more visitors now come to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the high quality golfing/bowls experience. Everyone is welcome to play whether just a round or two or one of our competitions.

The club acknowledges and sincerely thanks the Manjimup Shire, The Department of Sport and Recreation and the South West Development Commission  for having the confidence and knowledge that this is an important development for the club, the town of Walpole and for sport in country towns.

So far as we can discover the sythetics are the first in Australia for a voluntary club and is a showpiece which we are sure will be followed in years to come.  A huge effort by our members and helpers; but now the consensus is that its all been worth it. Since installation of the greens members and friends, including the local work camp, have been improving all aspects of the course. Visitors have been very surprised by the quality of our course, the clubs facilities and the welcome they get.

The photos show the then new no.18 green being tested for the first time and work on the surrounds of a green. The surrounds have covered well as can be seen in the photos. During 2021 reticulation was established surrounding the greens to ensure an even better experience and these were completed in time for the clubs annual major event, the Pioneer cup, in March 2022. The course has been continually upgraded and now rivals many "professional" courses. The quality of the course and the beautiful views of the surrounding forest and inlet make playing here a great experience. Visitors are often amazed to discover we have no paid staff and complement the club on its outstanding course and surrounds. As years go by the club is determined to continue to make improvements. Visitors are very welcome and costs have been kept low to enhance the experience. Take a look at our photos on these pages to get some idea of how much you can enjoy playing.
Bowls Green
Bowls also features at Walpole Country Club. The club was one of the first in WA to establish a synthetic bowling green and in late 2021 our long standing synthetic green was replaced with a new green. Players report the new green is as good or superior to the old one and is a joy to play.  New and existing members members welcome you to come and try it out. Casual and competition bowls events happen regularly so phone us to find out when and how you can join in.
