Our Future is even brighter now with synthetic grass golf greens

Synthetics -The Game is On!
Walpole Country Club has 18 synthetic golf greens on the picture perfect golf course.
The opening was a roaring success and a busy weekend saw lots of great golf and fellowship.
Three of WA's best professional golfers came down to join us and all 3 declared the synthetic greens a great success.
Since installation of the greens visiting players have increased significantly and locals have been able to enjoy their competitions even more. The greens took some getting used to for locals after the sand but are behaving as expected. Players who putt well and those familiar with grass are especially enjoying the experience.
The annual 2016 Pioneer cup (see golf) was the first major event to use the greens and even though very new and requiring further work on the surrounds most of the 226 golfers were very complementary.
New competitions have been developed and more will follow. These include the popular Russian Shootout and Friday afternoon/evening social games. Many more visitors will come to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the high quality golfing/bowls experience
The club acknowledges and sincerely thanks the Manjimup Shire, The Department of Sport and Recreation and the South West Development Commission with Royalties for Regions funding for having the confidence and knowledge that this is a most important development for the club, the town of Walpole and the sport of golf in country towns.
So far as we can discover it is the first in Australia for a totally voluntary club and is a showpiece which we are sure many will follow in years to come. All this took a huge effort by our members and helpers but now the consensus is that its all been worth it. Since installation of the greens members and friends, including the local work camp, have been improving all aspects of the course. Visitors have been surprised by the quality of our course, the clubs facilities and the welcome they get.
The photo's show our new no.18 green being tested for the first time and work on the surrounds of a green. After water and rain the surrounds are growing as can be seen in the photo's. In January only 2 months after installation the green is fully established. The bottom photo's show No. 18 and 14 greens and fairway at the end of February 2016. See more photos in the following pages.
